I missed you, Hootie

It's not even that I want to like it that much. Honestly, I feel kinda guilty about it. But "Don't Think I Don't" is really crazy good, as far as I'm concerned.

I mean, like any good country song, its nothing new. It's kinda a universally vague sentiment that doesn't really say anything. But this is one of the ones that, for whatever reason, kinda speaks to me. And not just because of the "whiskey".

The rest of the songs there don't do much for me. But you've gotta admit, the dude's got a voice.

Kinda makes me want to go dig up some old Garth Brooks albums.

Sometimes I'm surprised by the specific things that annoy me

Like, after watching Sarah Palin's speech, there are undoubtedly a lot of things about it that annoy me. I could've picked just about any of a few dozen reasons to hate it. But, it's weird. The one thing that hit me the most was all the shit-talking she did about community organizers.

I mean, I get it. You're trying to belittle Obama's experience. I mean, that's basically your job at this point, ironically enough. But at the same time, it was (perhaps in a typically Republican way) very heavy-handed and far too broad. Rather than limiting her remarks to simply saying "Being a community organizer does nothing to prepare you for being president of the U.S." she took it a step further and essentially just demeaned anybody who's ever worked as a community organizer.

I don't know why that bothered me so much. I mean, I don't have some great affinity for community organizers (though I'm sure they're generally fine people). It just strikes me as, well, wrong more than anything else. It's almost like she didn't even get the point of what she was saying. Just far too broad and insulting.

Kinda like a Dick Cheney shotgun to the face. Which is weird, because she strikes me as much more of a sharpshooting, rifle girl.

(I realize it's fake. But it still makes me laugh.)

Words cannot express how much this annoys me

I can't help but wonder if this girl even understands what she's talking about. If so, even at 12, she's a total bitch.

Although, on the plus side, at least they're sticking to their "If it's satire, it should come with a big warning label" point.
